Strikwerda Elected to High Foundation Board

High Foundation recently announced the election of a new member to its Board of Trustees.

Carl J. Strikwerda – Dr. Strikwerda recently retired as President of Elizabethtown College where he served since 2011. Before leading Elizabethtown College, he served as Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Professor of History at the College of William and Mary from 2004 to 2011, and as Associate Dean and Professor of History, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at the University of Kansas. Dr. Strikwerda earned his PhD in History from the University of Michigan, an MA in History from the University of Chicago, and a BA in History from Calvin College. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Council for European Studies. Past board service includes the Presidents’ Trust of the American Association of Colleges and Universities, Economic Development Company of Lancaster, WITF public radio and television, and the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching, Dr. Strikwerda has also researched and written many books, journal articles, review essays, and other publications.
