The work of High Foundation is complemented by charitable giving of the High Companies, which participate in the United Way campaign. It is funded through the generosity of S. Dale High and the High Family. The Foundation invests the funds and makes grants to other charitable organizations. Through the grant programs, the Foundation engages with community groups and other stakeholders with a common interest in investing in social change.
The Foundation’s main goal is to eliminate the issues that contribute to the cycle of poverty, including housing, transportation, healthcare, financial management, daycare, nutrition and more. Grant applications can be made by any 501(c)(3) and are due by November 1 of each year.
In 2017, the Foundation contributed more than $1.5 million to improve the lives of people who work and live in Lancaster County. What began in 1931 continues today - a firmly established ethical standard and a strong belief in quality, innovation, and integrity.
High Foundation is also a leading force in the Funders Forum, an informal group that collaborates around giving efforts within Lancaster. The Funders Forum allows foundations and grant-making organizations to share strategies to improve the lives of those in Lancaster County.
